The confrontational nature of taking portraits has been something that I've struggled with. I often lean into taking pictures of people who aren't facing me. It's tough! Shooting this style has forced me to make sure my focus is perfect on the eyes. Shooting portraits also forced me to consider framing tools more often, and, use them to my advantage

 

The joy of taking a portrait isn't framing someone's face, it's capturing wonder and/or catching an emotion.
